Wood floors have been the most popular type of floor covering for the past two decades. Its popularity is accredited mostly to the consumer's desire for its ease of cleaning, hypo-allergenic attributes, natural beauty and life expectancy. Solid wood floors boast a potential of up to eight re-finishes, which mean they should outlast the buildings they bedeck. Engineered wood floors have their areas of importance, but unless their top layer has a substantial thickness that is capable of being re-finished, their life expectancy is limited primarily to an individuals’ care-taking practices and, for these woods, decorating trends.
